The purchase of public transport tickets via message is finally here and according to the “Mobile & Online Ticketing 2015-2019” report by Juniper Research, within the year 2019 one in two tickets will be digital, displayed on a mobile device.
The online ticket purchases is already enabled in many Italian cities. The train ticket can be buy through an application or on the website while the bus ticket can be received by message.
To enjoy this service you only need to send a text message specifying the bus line and the stop’s name. Just done the sending, you will receive a message with a ticket valid for 90 minutes. Finally, all that remains to do is to show it to the controller and to relax during the trip with only an additional cost… the phone company!
